Volant Pre-Filters are factory treated using a proprietary hydrophobic process and are manufactured from the same durable polyester material as their race proven regular style. This unique material contains uniform micron openings that will filter out debris .005 or larger. This pre-filter will prevent splashes of water, mud and sand from saturating your air filter.
The filter is a great unit however fitment was very difficult. The factory connection is tapered and relies on a compression fit with the factory filter having a matching taper. The Volant filter has a straight connection to connect to the vehicle plus a hose clamp. The fit is extremely tight and the pressure from the hose clamp CAN forced the filter off the connection to the vehicle. Pay close attention.
United StatesExcellent. I replaced an oiled gauze filter from a well known brand with a Donaldson Powercore filter due to fine dirt downstream in the intake system. Fortunately there was a great option in the selection of Donaldson filters that bolted right into the cold air box. The cylinder head temperature, coolant temperature and cat temperature has not changed at all. The intake tube downstream is clean. Vehicle behaviour unchanged. Any future cold air system will be exclusively Powercore.
CanadaI bought the pre filter just to add slight protection to an already wonderful filter but the only thing I really don’t like is how tight the thing fits, I mean it’s a VERY tight fit. It could use a little redesign fit and finish wise but overall if you’re stubborn enough to make it fit like myself it’ll work.
