Volant air intake systems utilize a high-velocity venturi filter adapter which provides a smooth transition through the MAF sensor into the intake tube for a much needed airflow improvement over the factory rubber tubing and resonator box. Volant's Cool Air box is larger than the factory unit and incorporates a larger opening to collect a higher volume of colder ambient air.

Looks great, fitment for such an expensive product could be much better. I had to drill out one of the holes in order for the maf to mount to the side of the air box. Then when I went to install the air box in the engine bay I could only get one mounting bolt to line up to be able to secure it. For such an expensive intake I was hoping for something that fit much better and didn't require modification. In order to get the intake box to fit I would need to drill another hole into the bottom.
This product is installed on an '02 CC 2500HD 6.0 with a performance free flowing exhaust. Now the problem with a free flowing exhaust is it can expel the gasses but the engine is like an Olympic runner running a race breathing through a straw, it's very restrictive and this product just opened up the intake of air so it can run better. Coupled with the lower air scoop to ram air into the air box providing a positive pressure so it's not ******* air at atmospheric pressure but rather cold air pushed into the engine. If you see how the other "cold air" systems work the air box isn't closed in so it's not a true cold air design, it still draws under hood heat from the engine bay.
