Volant air intake systems utilize a high-velocity venturi filter adapter which provides a smooth transition through the MAF sensor into the intake tube for a much needed airflow improvement over the factory rubber tubing and resonator box. Volant's Cool Air box is larger than the factory unit and incorporates a larger opening to collect a higher volume of colder ambient air.

This is what is provided for $350 dollars, i'll let the pictures of that cut speak for themselves. There isn't a straight edge on this thing. And fitment? It doesn't even remotely fit my 2013 SV Frontier. For $350 you think you could get three holes in the right spot, gonna require major modification to make it fit. I was hopeful after the review Z1 gave but wow, just wow. Swearing off Volant products after this one. I'm only writing this as a warning to others, don't get swindled.
United StatesI was not able to use this item because not all of the parts were in it. I also do t agree with the term “closed air box” when half of it is missing. My experience was not good at all and would never recommend this product.
United StatesCustomer service was awesome, helpful. However I needed up getting the 12704 Full closed box that doesn’t fit the 2010 Xterra. So now I have an intake I can’t use. I’m sure it’s a great product, has great sound and looks amazing.
Everything is good about this intake except for the fact that all they did was take the older intakes and cut a large gaping hole where the horn would normally get in the way. The end result is you have a cold air intake that is actually open box. If you were planning on doing water crossings or going Offroad I would choose an alternate system that is actually closed box. The kit I received had the wrong hardware which made it impossible to secure to my vehicle frame without a trip to the hardware store. Also it was missing the cold ram air intake. Really disappointed in this purchase and in Volant cutting corners with a really lazy fix here. Either buy the older version with an actual closed box and relocate the horn or shop elsewhere all together.
United StatesI viewed a You Tube video of this cold air intake and bought it. I wish I would have read the other posts about holes not lining up. This box was clearly not made for these trucks or it was made by 5 year olds. Holes don't even try to line up even with "gentle massaging" and the box does not conform to the area it was supposedly designed to fit. Why are there huge open areas of the box not closed? even if I chose to put a snorkle on the space provided it would **** up the water in that giant hole. Try again Volant, Maybe this time get a 6 year old to design it!
United StatesInstall is easy however the box only has one mounting hole and doesn’t line up well. The sound and peddle feel are both good. My mpg has dropped however I don’t think my ecu is used to the extra air just yet( I’ve been babying the gas). My only real complaint was that the plastic cover for the air box came broken but the customer service/ tech guy I spoke to immediately sent me a new one. Haven received it yet but hopefully it will get here soon.
United StatesThe quality of the product is good. Installation of the box was extremely difficult. Had to have my neighbor help me. We ended up reaming out the holes so the bolts would fit. There was so little length we couldn't use the lock washers. The unit is very loud when you accelerate. Has a nice tone when not accelerating. Probably wouldn't buy it again.
